Oatey 31400 Flame Protector – High-Temperature Soldering Heat Shield

The Oatey 31400 Flame Protector is a thermal shielding cloth designed for use in soldering and brazing applications where flame exposure risks adjacent surfaces. Constructed from heat-resistant oxidized polyacrylonitrile (OPAN) fibers, this non-asbestos pad is rated to withstand direct flame and radiant heat up to 2,280°F.

Its compact 9" x 12" form factor allows for positioning in confined spaces during copper tube joining, valve installation, or other tasks requiring torch access. Integrated brass eyelets provide mounting points for temporary placement on studs, framing, or mechanical assemblies.
