3/4" Galvanized Steel Pipe Nipple – Schedule 40, NPT Threaded

The 3/4" galvanized steel pipe nipple is manufactured from Schedule 40 carbon steel pipe and hot-dip galvanized to meet ASTM A53 and ASTM A123 standards. Threaded on both ends with National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads in accordance with ANSI B1.20.1, this fitting is designed for low- to moderate-pressure piping systems requiring corrosion resistance in potable water, air, and mechanical applications.

This nipple is suitable for above-ground water distribution systems, HVAC lines, and general-purpose plumbing installations where zinc coating is required to protect the steel substrate from oxidation. The close (nipple) length offers minimal overall extension, used where spacing is limited and rigid coupling is required between female-threaded components.

Installation Guidelines

Apply PTFE tape or thread-seal compound to male threads before installation. Use proper pipe wrenches to engage the threads without deforming the nipple. Do not overtighten. For best results, ensure piping alignment and support according to code. Galvanized pipe and fittings should not be used for aggressive chemical media or water with high acidity or hardness unless evaluated for compatibility.

Material Note

Hot-dip galvanized steel offers enhanced protection in moist or mildly corrosive environments. While suitable for many plumbing applications, the zinc layer may deteriorate over time in high-temperature or chemically aggressive environments, at which point alternative materials like brass or stainless steel may be required.
